Nicole, a single mother of two boys (12 and 14), adopted Kat (a five year old fawn female) in April. Nicole works in Stockton and her boys attend school here in Tracy. The family struggles month to month but still had room in their home for Kat.
After a week or two of limping, Kat was diagnosed with bone cancer in her left hind leg just a few days ago. The family is devastated. We are working with the vet and we're keeping Kat pain free for as long as possible.
A donation came in recently for $300. Just happens to be our price for adoption. Hmmmmmm.
As of yesterday, Miss Clara from the Tucson track went to spend the next few weeks with Kat and her family. When introduced, Clara and Kat became fast friends. Kat had refused to go into the kitchen (slick tile floor) since she came up lame because she slipped once and was fearful thereafter. When Clara entered the house that morning, Kat forgot herself and went running to meet her visitor - right thru the kitchen! Both dogs will enjoy the next few weeks being loved and hugged by Nicole and her boys. Clara will remain when the final decision comes to see Kat over the bridge.
I want to thank the Wade family of Stockton for making this Christmas a little brighter for a wonderful family.
